The smoking ban legislation came into effect July 2007, that is with exceptions of prisons and mental health secure units. Recently this smoking ban law was re-evaluated to include mental health secure units. Do mental health workers get paid to be smoking ban enforcement officers?  I can understand their anti smoking ban and reluctance to operate under these smoking ban rules. The government may seriously need to explore some smoking ban solutions.

Smoking is very much a coping mechanism amongst mentally ill people.

Apparently the government want to gradually encourage the smoking enforcement throughout all secure units and eventually all prisons to come in line with smoking ban in public places policy.
