Can ‘Screening’ for ‘HPV Human Papilloma Virus‘ STOP ‘Cancer’ ?

Simply YES. So ‘What is cancer?’ How can I help to stop them from dying !

Opposite is a picture of what ‘cervical cancer’ can look like.

You can help stop 100′s of women dying from cancer. In a moment I will tell you how? but first let me explain…

‘HPV Human Papilloma Virus’ is a very common virus. Most women will in their lives contract ‘HPV’, in most cases it does not need treatment and the body will deal with it naturally. This infection is common amongst people who are sexually active.

‘Screening’ women for human papillomavirus (HPV), which is strongly linked to Cancer, is a must for early detection of Cervical ‘cancer’ and deaths could be radically cut if screening test were available to women as young as 20.

The NHS runs a cervical screening programme in the UK. In England and Northern Ireland, women between 25 and 64 years old are invited for screening. In Scotland, women between 20 and 60 are included in the programme, and in Wales, women between 20 and 64 are screened.

Women as young as 20 and as old as 64 are screened in America, Canada, Austrailia and Europe.

Women used to be routinely screened for cervical cancer from the age of 20 but in 2003 the government raised the age to 25 in England.

Let me just point out that certain areas of UK screen as young as 20:

Lewisham;

Lambeth;

Suffolk.

This brings about a BIG question ?

There is evidence to show that even when your GP authourises a smear test the labatories take one look at the date of birth and dispose if under 25.

Latest figures though show a rise in the number of women in their 20s getting cervical cancer and Hannah Booth who was 20 when she was diagnosed is now campaigning for the screening age to be brought back down. Sign here When you’ve Signed this petition it will display a page asking for a donation…By all means if you wish, donate, but please do not feel obliged, your name will still be counted.

The reason, given by the Dept Of Health, for not doing smears under 25 is that they do more harm than good!! If this were the case, where is the harm occurring in all the other countries? And not forgetting the armed forces who incidentally are screened from age 20.

Alternatively there are over 1 million women under 25. A smear test costs £50 hence the cost of doing smears on the under 25s is £50 million –

Professor Henry Kitchener, Professor of Gynaecological Oncology at the University of Manchester and Chair of the Advisory Committee on Cervical Screening, said:

“It is important to understand that cervical screening is aimed at women without symptoms. If a woman of any age has symptoms, she should be referred to see a gynaecologist within two weeks for further investigation. Screening for women with symptoms is inappropriate and could actually delay a full and proper diagnosis.”

Cervical cancer symptoms can be;

Abnormal bleeding. Women with cervical cancer may experience abnormal vaginal bleeding. This can be heavy or light bleeding during the month. Bleeding between regular menstrual periods, after sexual intercourse, douching, or pelvic exam. Bleeding after sexual intercourse, douching, or pelvic exam can be cervical cancer symptoms. This is due to the irritation of the cervix during these activities. While a healthy cervix may have a very small amount of bleeding, many conditions may cause bleeding after activities like sex.

Unusual heavy discharge. An increased vaginal discharge is also a symptom of cervical cancer. It may be foul smelling, watery, thick, or contain mucus. It varies from woman to woman. It is important to report any unusual vaginal discharge to your doctor.

Pelvic pain. Pelvic pain that is not related to the normal menstrual cycle can be a cervical cancer symptom. Many women describe them ranging from a dull ache to sharp pains that can last hours. It can be mild or severe.
Pain during urination. Bladder pain or pain during urination can be a symptom of advanced cervical cancer. This cervical cancer symptom usually occurs when cancer has spread to the bladder.

Rights? Risks? Responsibility and Results?

Home Secretary Theresa May called for a return ‘to sanity’ and pledged to do the ‘minimum possible’ to comply with the judges’ demands to protect the rights of paedophiles.

She said: ‘These are rights, of course, that these offenders have taken away from their victims in the cruelest and most degrading manner. It places the rights of sex offenders above the right of the public to be protected from the risk of reoffending.’

Supreme Court stated that …rapists and paedophiles must have the RIGHT to be removed from the national sex offenders register if they can prove they are no longer a threat…

May be the questions we need to ask are:

“Are we willing to take the RISKS involved in ascertaining this? And who will be responsible and accountable if we get things wrong?”

“Please take the time to read this article and allow your self to digest the information, then, if you wish let me know what your thoughts are by submitting a comment in the box below or if you prefer simply click on the facebook share button at the top of the page and help spread the word…Thank you.”

Looking at reconviction rates alone, one large-scale analysis (Hanson and Bussiere, 1998) reported the following differences:
• child molesters had a 13% reconviction rate for sexual offenses and a 37% reconviction rate for new, non-sex offenses over a five year period; and
• rapists had a 19% reconviction rate for sexual offenses and a 46% reconviction rate for new, non-sexual offenses over a five year period.
Another study found reconviction rates for child molesters to be 20% and for rapists to be approximately 23% (Quinsey, Rice, and Harris, 1995).

Just for the record I could only find these dated statistics…It would be interesting to compare to more current data.

Well it’s been quite a while since my last post. There has been a lot happening both in my own world and in the wider world.

Thought for the day…

Are we so entrenched in such a blameful culture that we completely miss the real picture? And for what purpose does this attitude serve us all?

The Deal in the desert. Apparently this deal that happened between Tony Blair and Colonial Gaddafi’s, a deal in which the UK provided goods (tear gas, bullets and obviously guns) that are allegedly currently being utilised in Libya to kill, maim or to keep an order of control.

Do we have blood on our hands?

Let me know your thoughts, I’m interested and believe it or not I’m listening.

Would you ‘gossip’ at a ‘Shrink’ ‘Party’?

“So what is a ‘Shrink’ ‘Party’?”

We’ve all heard of ‘Tupperware Parties’, ‘Ann Summers Parties’ and even the revolutionary ‘Botox Parties’, but now we have ‘Shrink’ ‘parties’ – all the way from (you guessed it’) the US and now available in Manchester UK.

The idea behind this venture is that the host provides the wine, the food and invites a bunch of friends, the company ‘Shrink Party’ provides a qualified and experienced psychologist/counsellor (I hope) then you and your friends all contribute personal problems and share them within the group.

One can also arrange a party at a 5 star Hotel or a divine restaurant, or some other great venue across the North West including – Manchester City Centre, Hale, Altrincham, Sale, Wilmslow, Cheadle, Macclesfield, Warrington and Stockport.

“Dare I mention ‘Confidentiality’?”

“Are ‘Shrink parties’ similar to group therapy?”

Group therapy is where a therapist mediates a room of regular clients, these clients rarely know each other at the beginning of the group. The therapist, over several weeks facilitates the expression of issues and helps the client to resolve difficulties and subsequently improve their lives.

“What makes ‘shrink parties’ so controversial and enticing?”

Some say that it is the fact it arouses the voyeuristic element that is reported to be a part of our psyche.

Most can agree (especially women) that we all love to watch and listen.

Others state that it is a breeding ground for more gossip and judgment and can result in participants feeling vulnerable, exposed and often leading to mockery or ridicule, which fundamentally benefits the listeners more than the speaker.

“For me as a practitioner all kinds of ethical dilemmas pop into mind… but then again, apparently ‘it’s fun not therapy’?”

According to Graham Norton who once ably put it, “Always remember, dear: a problem shared is … gossip”.

“Let me know your thoughts or even your experiences with a ‘Shrink Party‘”

To make matters worse, the two-day walkout on November 5th and 6th coincides with the Hindu festival of Diwali, which also features fireworks.

“No disrespect to fire fighters, I think they deserve every penny they get and more…”

‘Remember, remember the fifth of November Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason, why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, guy, t’was his intent to blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below to prove old England’s overthrow.

By God’s mercy he was catch’d with a darkened lantern and burning match.
So, holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring. Holler boys, holler boys, God save the king.

And what shall we do with him? Burn him!’

Guy Fawkes is probably one of the most famous terrorist in English history. This is an annual celebration which has been held on the evening of 5 November since 1605…

A recent major security alert is under way in the UK, US and Middle East after “sinister” packages were discovered on board two cargo planes after they landed in the Midlands and Dubai.

The plane that landed in the UK had begun its journey in Dubai and was bound for the US.

The plane that landed in the UK was operated by the parcel company UPS. It had taken off from Yemen, and was due to fly to two locations in the US.

THE boss of a budget airline has poured scorn on UK counter-terror measures after telling Sky News that “nonsense” airport security measures introduced over the past two years had “no effect on security.”

Speaking in the wake of the recent failed cargo plane bomb, the Irish boss of the budget airline dismissed the reaction of what he labelled “securicrats.”

‘Surely the most important issue at present is the safety of the nation and the world?’

Let me know what your thoughts are on this subject?

‘Have a safe and happy bonfire night’

The Broadmoor hospital, houses about 260 patients all of whom are men since the female service closed in September 2007, with most of the women moving to a new service in Southall.

Gwen is described as ‘a rare breed in medicine’ why? Because, she spends her working life trying to help and rehabilitate men who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Men whom others would dismiss with a single word as ‘evil’ or even beyond or un-deserving of any kind of help.

Her ultimate aim is to rehabilitate and make them safer and of course the wider field ‘us’. Help them to gain a discharge, fundamentally being released. – Her success is achieved by facilitating their understanding and full acceptance of their crimes and the impact that their crime has had on others.

Gwen adds – “My job is to help a man become more articulate about what he has done, about his illness and about why that might be important for his future. Even if a cure is not possible, recovery of some identity is possible. My work involves talking to them and getting them to become more self-reflective. Violence is more likely to occur when people are not thinking straight.”

In 2009 Broadmoor was reported to have weak management, poor staffing and training, inadequate facilities and overcrowding. These concerns about Broadmoor’s failure to properly care for its patients have been raised repeatedly over the past 20 years. In 2003, the hospital was described as “totally unfit for purpose” and lacking “basic standards of dignity and privacy” by the Commission for Health Improvement, a former NHS regulator.

So Broadmoor represents a valuable and necessary place to house and rehabilitate these types of patients, so what would happen if this hospital and others like it were to close?

Let me know what your thoughts are on this crucial matter…

Do you trust the Government to understand your vocation as a counsellor or psychotherapist?

The previous Government took considerable steps towarde the regulation of counsellors and psychotherapists and had chosen the Health Professions Council (HPC) to administer and accomplish this.

Apparently in March 2010 the Department of Health confirmed that it is still open to considering other appropriate models of regulation and that it has suspended the progress on HPC regulation pending a Judicial Review estimated not before May 2011.

With a recent new Government, things are at present vague, the Conservatives are unlikely to allow statutory regulation to proceed without major changes and further debate. Tim Loughton MP, former Shadow Mental Health Minister, has stated a preference for a different model of regulation.

The Liberal Democrats, are also in favour of some kind of regulation, but they also expressed numerous ‘serious’ concerns about what HPC regulation requires.

Considering that the government reaches a sensible and professional decision, recognizing and acknowledging that regulation must be inclusive and about minimum standards, not unachievable or unreasonable accreditation criteria’s and certainly not for any financial profiteering.

“An alternative regulation proposal is for ‘Practitioner Full Disclosure’ (PFD) which has been successfully pioneered in both Canada and Australia. This is a simple scheme in which practitioners register their qualifications centrally and has also proved to be efficient in handling complaints and mediation procedures.”

Source: UKIP

“What you may not know… according to the Counselling Society they estimate that the earliest possible date for any kind of regulation legislation could be approximately year 2017… if indeed at all”.

The Counselling Society also states that they will do everything to ensure that their members achieve a successful transition should regulation occur.

Recently a gunman, who we shall call Mr.X, killed 12 people in Cumbria, before turning his weapon on himself. He gave a chilling warning of his intentions hours before his killing spree.

Last night a friend of the Mr.X revealed that HMRC was investigating him over a £60,000 sum deposited in his bank account. It has been reported that he feared he would go to prison because of a tax investigation. The friend claimed that Mr.X was anxious about being sent to prison.

Also it was reported that Mr.X had spent the night before his killing spree watching a violent film at the home of his best friend house before asking, as he left: “Do you think I’m paranoid?”

Another friend said he had also noticed a change in Mr.X. “I’ve known Mr.X for 15 to 20 years. We always got on well — he was a good bloke. But I noticed a real change in the two weeks before the killing. This dark cloud seemed to come down over him. He would turn up for work and then just sit in his car all day”.

The incident echoed the massacres in Hungerford in 1987 and Dunblane in 1996, both of which led to tighter firearms legislation. Theresa May, the Home Secretary, is expected to address gun control issues when she makes a statement to the Commons.

The show is distinctive for its confrontational style, which sees guests attempt to resolve issues with family and friends.

On the show you can witness DNA testing and a lie detecting test plus all of it’s results and the relative impact on those taking part;

The DNA test is said to be around 99% accurate when positive and 100% accurate when negative. It is used to determine which potential father is the father of the child and confirming that others are in fact biologically related, such as brothers and sisters.

The Lie Detector Test is advertised as being only 96-97% accurate. It is applied to cases of theft and infidelity. The evidence is gathered by using a polygraph test.

The polygraph works by tracing changes in the person’s physiological conditioning during questioning. These findings are recorded directly on to the polygraph chart. These physiological changes have been the subject of various research projects and apparently their examiners have undertaken many hours of polygraph chart analysis instruction to interpret them.

The Polygraph charts are generated by attaching four components to the subject. They then trace changes to the subject’s relative blood pressure and pulse rate and it is similar to the pressure cuff your doctor uses when taking your blood pressure

Polygraph Testing usually takes around 2 hours from beginning to end and consists of three different phases;

Pre-test interview,
Collection of charts,
Analysis of charts.

Allegedly the Polygraph Test is the most infallible method of determining if someone is lying.

The American Polygraph Association (APA) state that;

“There is no doubt that the polygraph is highly reliable, providing the person using it is properly trained and the technique they use is validated.”

You can view further information at their web site www.polygraph.org

“The results compiled can and do change people’s lives forever. Surely this cannot be a valid account of truth and must only propose an emotional relation to the questions at hand when administered?”

Let me know what you think…

Whose Responsible for The Bullying Of Children by Children?

I recently read an article in a news paper about a 6 year old girl being bullied and sexually abused by 23 other 6 year olds at her school.

The terrified girl was repeatedly attacked in the school grounds by children her own age.

This startling story left me with questions; bearing in mind we are creatures of learned behaviour…

Where did this behaviour derive from?

Why are they behaving in this way?

Are these children form abusive families and need protecting themselves?

Research shows that children can be capable of all kinds of cruelty; they have not yet developed adult sensibility or sensitivity. Remember the film “The Lord of the Flies”.

Young children have a very aggressive survival instinct they do not yet know how to control this behaviour. Also because this assault was delivered within a group they do not think individually but think as a group.

Research also depicts that children cannot and do not understand the mechanics of sex until they are at least 8 years old.

So do we acknowledge that children do not actually fully understand and know about right or wrong and a large part of the information they have about these social interactions is predominantly down to home life and up bringing?

Do we then punish them or their parents/guardians?

Let me know your thoughts on this matter.
