‘Magical’ ‘on Earth as it is in Heaven’

When the pupil is ready the teacher appears; Throughout life we meet many teachers

Living Magically by Gill Edwards

A few years ago I was introduced to this book by a very good friend of mine – ‘Ian Brown’ (Not The Stone Roses Front man – although a spiritual lyricist if ever there was one) but one of life’s friends who have vision – a different perspective that puts the things that your thinking into some kind of rational order or coherent communication.

The Teachings;

The main ethos was about how to; Create your own heaven on earth – and learn to grow through joy… rather than struggle!

For those that are interested ‘Living Magically’ offered a magical blend of metaphysics, shamanism, psychology and spiritual awareness for everyday life.

Written in a practical, down-to-earth approach with emphasis on living with joy, creating true prosperity, fulfilling your higher purpose, freeing your soul – transforming your life -

Living Magically offers a practical wisdom that derives from the mystic heart of the world’s spiritual traditions. It encourages us to take full responsibility for our lives, to honour the Light within ourselves and others, and to create a heaven on earth.

Remembering the things that time had forgotten.

At 2.20am the morning of Saturday November 19th 2011 – A Teacher within her own right – Gill Edwards died, her family said that she had finished her mission on earth. Her Mum and her brother, Brian were with her, and her much beloved son, Kieran had been with her earlier that evening.

The family agonized about what to say to all the many thousands of people who love her and follow her work, but then Brian opened her laptop and a letter jumped out that Gill wrote to someone grieving a loss. Brian has adapted that letter, so go to the Message from Gill page here, and Gill can tell you how she would like you to think about her passing. You can also leave comments, tributes, or memories of Gill on that page.

Thank you Gill RIP.

Another great teacher;

‘To Quit’ or NOT ‘to Quit’?

Don’t Quit,

When things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road youre trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low,and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must but dont quit

Life is queer with its twists and turns
As everyone of us sometimes learns
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won if he stuck it out
Dont give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far
So stick to the fight when youre hardest hit
Its when things seems worse that you must not quit.

Thanks Sally

Can ‘Screening’ for ‘HPV Human Papilloma Virus‘ STOP ‘Cancer’ ?

Simply YES. So ‘What is cancer?’ How can I help to stop them from dying !

Opposite is a picture of what ‘cervical cancer’ can look like.

You can help stop 100′s of women dying from cancer. In a moment I will tell you how? but first let me explain…

‘HPV Human Papilloma Virus’ is a very common virus. Most women will in their lives contract ‘HPV’, in most cases it does not need treatment and the body will deal with it naturally. This infection is common amongst people who are sexually active.

‘Screening’ women for human papillomavirus (HPV), which is strongly linked to Cancer, is a must for early detection of Cervical ‘cancer’ and deaths could be radically cut if screening test were available to women as young as 20.

The NHS runs a cervical screening programme in the UK. In England and Northern Ireland, women between 25 and 64 years old are invited for screening. In Scotland, women between 20 and 60 are included in the programme, and in Wales, women between 20 and 64 are screened.

Women as young as 20 and as old as 64 are screened in America, Canada, Austrailia and Europe.

Women used to be routinely screened for cervical cancer from the age of 20 but in 2003 the government raised the age to 25 in England.

Let me just point out that certain areas of UK screen as young as 20:

Lewisham;

Lambeth;

Suffolk.

This brings about a BIG question ?

There is evidence to show that even when your GP authourises a smear test the labatories take one look at the date of birth and dispose if under 25.

Latest figures though show a rise in the number of women in their 20s getting cervical cancer and Hannah Booth who was 20 when she was diagnosed is now campaigning for the screening age to be brought back down. Sign here When you’ve Signed this petition it will display a page asking for a donation…By all means if you wish, donate, but please do not feel obliged, your name will still be counted.

The reason, given by the Dept Of Health, for not doing smears under 25 is that they do more harm than good!! If this were the case, where is the harm occurring in all the other countries? And not forgetting the armed forces who incidentally are screened from age 20.

Alternatively there are over 1 million women under 25. A smear test costs £50 hence the cost of doing smears on the under 25s is £50 million –

Professor Henry Kitchener, Professor of Gynaecological Oncology at the University of Manchester and Chair of the Advisory Committee on Cervical Screening, said:

“It is important to understand that cervical screening is aimed at women without symptoms. If a woman of any age has symptoms, she should be referred to see a gynaecologist within two weeks for further investigation. Screening for women with symptoms is inappropriate and could actually delay a full and proper diagnosis.”

Abnormal bleeding. Women with cervical cancer may experience abnormal vaginal bleeding. This can be heavy or light bleeding during the month. Bleeding between regular menstrual periods, after sexual intercourse, douching, or pelvic exam. Bleeding after sexual intercourse, douching, or pelvic exam can be cervical cancer symptoms. This is due to the irritation of the cervix during these activities. While a healthy cervix may have a very small amount of bleeding, many conditions may cause bleeding after activities like sex.

Unusual heavy discharge. An increased vaginal discharge is also a symptom of cervical cancer. It may be foul smelling, watery, thick, or contain mucus. It varies from woman to woman. It is important to report any unusual vaginal discharge to your doctor.

Pelvic pain. Pelvic pain that is not related to the normal menstrual cycle can be a cervical cancer symptom. Many women describe them ranging from a dull ache to sharp pains that can last hours. It can be mild or severe.
Pain during urination. Bladder pain or pain during urination can be a symptom of advanced cervical cancer. This cervical cancer symptom usually occurs when cancer has spread to the bladder.

Where do they learn these restraining moves?

What motivates a person to inflict such horrendous torture on to defenceless vulnerable people?

Whether that person is in a role of carer/ support worker or just to another human being for that matter? Where is the Empathy?

Restraining is always a last resort and only to be administered if the patient is a risk to themselves or others.

If I knew that this this kind of treatment was utilised, I would urge to have ‘Justice administered’ wouldn’t you?

How would you feel if a member of your family was being assaulted, abused and tortured in this fashion?

I like many others believe this is not an isolated case; there are probably numerous organisations and individuals (Staff) who operate in this despicable way.

As you may be aware one of my roles is as a supervisor of NHS staff but anyone; not just the people who work with vulnerable people, children, old age pensioners, or the mentally ill, either in a hospital, residential or domiciliary setting, within private or NHS employment, they SHOULD all be made accountable for their actions.

If this was to happen outside these settings in general then I would like to think that we are protected by law and we are well within our rights to involve the police and prosecute the offender, this is why we have ‘laws’ of the land.

Let me ask you; what would you do if you knew of a staff member who was capable of such brutal behaviour? How would you feel if this person was someone who you knew?

If you or anyone you know have any concerns regarding care quality then click on this link; and get in touch with the Care Quality Commission NOW!

Apparently there are many warning signs;

I wonder how these people behave in their private lives.

To conclude; we’re not always protected from those who are disturbed, deranged or evil, sadly they do live and work amongst us and even the nastiest of people can seem very plausible.

Rights? Risks? Responsibility and Results?

Home Secretary Theresa May called for a return ‘to sanity’ and pledged to do the ‘minimum possible’ to comply with the judges’ demands to protect the rights of paedophiles.

She said: ‘These are rights, of course, that these offenders have taken away from their victims in the cruelest and most degrading manner. It places the rights of sex offenders above the right of the public to be protected from the risk of reoffending.’

Supreme Court stated that …rapists and paedophiles must have the RIGHT to be removed from the national sex offenders register if they can prove they are no longer a threat…

May be the questions we need to ask are:

“Are we willing to take the RISKS involved in ascertaining this? And who will be responsible and accountable if we get things wrong?”

“Please take the time to read this article and allow your self to digest the information, then, if you wish let me know what your thoughts are by submitting a comment in the box below or if you prefer simply click on the facebook share button at the top of the page and help spread the word…Thank you.”

Looking at reconviction rates alone, one large-scale analysis (Hanson and Bussiere, 1998) reported the following differences:
• child molesters had a 13% reconviction rate for sexual offenses and a 37% reconviction rate for new, non-sex offenses over a five year period; and
• rapists had a 19% reconviction rate for sexual offenses and a 46% reconviction rate for new, non-sexual offenses over a five year period.
Another study found reconviction rates for child molesters to be 20% and for rapists to be approximately 23% (Quinsey, Rice, and Harris, 1995).

Just for the record I could only find these dated statistics…It would be interesting to compare to more current data.

Ignorance is Pure ‘Ice’

Helping relationships enable and encourage us to experience and express a wide range of feelings, some pleasant and some not so pleasant. Offering an arena for growth and change rather than blocking or stifling by judgement or opinion.

By encouraging self activation and self assertion we identify our own unique individuality, wishes, dreams, and goals, and are allowed to be assertive in expressing them autonomously no matter how whacky or unachievable. One of the most cruelest things that one can do to is to squash dreams and rubbish the ideas of others.

“Please take the time to read this article and allow your self to digest the information, then, if you wish let me know what your thoughts are by submitting a comment in the box below or if you prefer simply click on the facebook share button at the top of the page and help spread the word…Thank you.”

You may be aware of Mr Masaru Emoto from Japan who began one of the most amazing phenomina of life. He observed and experimented with water and began to feed different levels of communication to the water. The communication was delivered in written form facing the water while it was stored in bottles before freezing.

Negative words like; ‘You make me sick, I will kill you’ made the crystals resemble an image similar to that of polluted water.

Words of ‘Love and appreciation’ resembled images of perfect cylindrical beauty.

The worst by a long shot were the ones that were ignored.

Believe it or not ignorance is a weapon.

Amazing when you consider that us humans are probably about 80% water.

Can you be alone without feeling abandoned or ignored?

Some people dislike being on their own. I personally am quite comfortable being alone at times, does this necessarily mean that those who dislike being alone are unhealthy?

I would say, only if they choose to be with the wrong kind of person. Exhibiting an attitude that to be with someone, anyone, is far better than not being with anybody at all. This way they could be leaving them selves wide open to abuse, manipulation and unhappiness.

Disagreements happen in healthy relationships all the time. Most often what makes a relationship healthy is the open and honest communication and a willingness to compromise when disagreements occur. With honesty we might not always like what we hear but at least we can achieve a better understanding of each other. When we have a breakdown of communication one person thinks one thing and the other person thinks another and more often than not they are both incorrect.

The unhealthy relationship is marred by a need to control one or the other. When arguments happen, a person can be made to feel bad by experiencing ridicule and name-calling. Controlling aspects are present when one need’s to dictate how the other is to dress, to think and to feel. This is abuse.

Fear, grief and rage are not and should not be a regular part of any relationship. Yes, people will get angry and sad from time to time through the normal course of life, but when it is constant and it achieves a level of ‘abuse’ – the relationship is not a healthy one.

“Oh, the comfort – the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person – having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away”. ~Dinah Craik, A Life for a Life, 1859

Well it’s been quite a while since my last post. There has been a lot happening both in my own world and in the wider world.

Thought for the day…

Are we so entrenched in such a blameful culture that we completely miss the real picture? And for what purpose does this attitude serve us all?

The Deal in the desert. Apparently this deal that happened between Tony Blair and Colonial Gaddafi’s, a deal in which the UK provided goods (tear gas, bullets and obviously guns) that are allegedly currently being utilised in Libya to kill, maim or to keep an order of control.

Do we have blood on our hands?

Let me know your thoughts, I’m interested and believe it or not I’m listening.

8 tips towards overcoming perfectionism.

“Please take the time to read this article and allow your self to digest the information, then, if you wish let me know what your thoughts are by submitting a comment in the box below or if you prefer simply click on the facebook share button at the top of the page and help spread the word…Thank you.”

1. Be aware of your motivations for perfection
To start overcoming perfectionism, you need to first understand why you are a perfectionist. What is the underlying motivation? Look back in your life and try to identify incidents which contributed to shaping your perfectionist mentality. Is it because of others’ expectations of you? Is it because people underestimated your abilities and you feel you need to prove yourself? Is it because you attach your sense of self worth to the results of your actions? Whatever the reasons are, become aware of them, recognize them and understand that these do not dictate who you are.

2. Recognize that ideals are directions, not absolutes
Continue to hold your ideals and set BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) because these serve as growth-levers and motivation sources. The goals are not the problems – it’s the attachment towards the goals which you need to work on. Accept your goals as directions to work towards and not absolutes which you need to achieve. Commit yourself to the pursuits but do not attach yourself to them. It does not matter if you do not reach the ideals because the ideals are visions to reach; they are not who you are or who you should be.

3. Respect and love yourself
Are you beating yourself over something that could have been better? Let go of all these negative thoughts in your mind. You did what you could within that particular context. Recognize you are an individual with your own rights and integrity versus subjecting yourself to all the self-abuse and self-depreciation. Treat yourself with the respect you -deserve.

4. Focus on the big picture
Overcoming perfectionism requires you to start seeing the forest for the trees. Use prioritization techniques such as Time Management Matrix (Stephen Covey, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People) to aid you in identifying tasks which you should do and tasks which you should abandon altogether. For the tasks which you need to be involved in, use the 80-20 principle to help you gauge when to stop. Whenever a particular task is taking too much of your time, it is good to ask yourself ‘Does this matter in the bigger scheme of things?’. If it doesn’t, chuck it.

5. Focus on what can be done
Forget about mistakes that were made in the past which you cannot do anything about. Learn from them and move on; obsessing over them does not change anything at all. Realize that the time you spend thinking about your mistakes actually takes you away from time which you can have spent on more productive things instead! Stop worrying about things that are not within your locus of control, such as the future or perceptions by others. Plan for contingencies but beyond that, do not waste your time harping over it.

6. Delegate and let go
Have faith in other people’s abilities and delegate tasks to them. If they do not seem to be doing a particular task right, teach and help them instead of taking over entirely. Teach a man how to fish so there is more fish for everyone, rather than doing all the fishing yourself and limiting the total output.

7. Enjoy the entire process
The process is the longest part of achievement – enjoy it! Find ways to lighten it up – learn to laugh at yourself, take things positively, rest/eat/sleep/play when it is time to, take part in enriching recreational activities, do not de-prioritize your social gatherings or time off from work.

8. Celebrate the victories and progress made
Give yourself a pat in the back for everything that you do, regardless of the outcome. Reward yourself or other people if a good job is done. Give credit where credit is due. Wholeheartedly celebrate your victories when they come along – you have rightfully earned them!

Understanding your Motivation for Perfection.

There are 3 major underlying motivations for perfection. Perfectionism may happen due to either one or a combination of any of the 3 reasons.

“Please take the time to read this article and allow your self to digest the information, then, if you wish let me know what your thoughts are by submitting a comment in the box below or if you prefer simply click on the facebook share button at the top of the page and help spread the word…Thank you.”

1. Fierce desire for growth
They expect perfection of themselves. Their perfectionism is the result of an insatiable thirst and desire for growth and to be the best that one can be. To come anything short would be not to live up to one’s true potential, which defeats the purpose in living.

2. Social expectations
Their perfectionism comes about because it is socially expected of them. Family, teachers, coaches, managers and leaders with authoritarian, dictatorial styles induce perfectionism by drawing a high standard of benchmark we need to reach and reciprocating failure with forms of punishment. Failing is equated to being worthless. Schools and workplaces with a fierce culture of competition and strong emphasis on performance and achievement are common breeding grounds for perfectionism. Society and media perpetuate untainted, flawless, virtual, perfect end states which are subsequently brought to life in the form of imagery, verbal and sensory cues in advertising, marketing and idol worship. They create the aspiration towards unrealistic ideals and in still the belief that such ideals are in fact achievable.

3. Sense of insecurity
For some people, perfectionism may arise out of insecurity of one’s own worth. People who have faced discrimination of sorts or sidelined since young develop a sense of inadequacy or void in them selves. This abyss in turn manifests the desire or need to overtly prove themselves through their actions and accomplishments. They desire to make a statement about themselves, whether for themselves or other people around them.
