REM sleep: Sleep comprises of different sleep stages; REM Sleep and Non-REM Sleep stages have variable levels within them. This article is about how REM sleep stage can affect depression.

It has been reported that when in REM sleep stages our dreams are quite negative. Dealing with all our negative emotions that have been evoked. REM sleep is believed to be the part of sleep which is not as nourishing as other stages of our sleep pattern, this is probably why many depressives spend alot of time sleeping.

Question For the Week: Does depression affect your REM sleep or …

If serotonin is not as abundant as it should be in the brain then you would have less deactivation of the REM allowing for more dreams but also less NREM (containing deep sleep) sleep stages. You may wake up and feel sleepy even though …

Define insomnia | Depression Info

In stage 4, the brain waves are almost totally delta waves. Stages 3 and 4 are called deep sleep and it is difficult to wake a person during stage 4. Stage 5 is called REM sleep and during this stage everything changes. …

Children can be happy by formula. Apparently there is algebra equations that have shown to create happiness within our children.

I recently read a study by Dr. Cliff Arnall.

This study disclosed research which consisted of a formula. A Formula that Dr. Cliff reported could indeed create happiness.

Dr. Cliff questioned over 30,000 adults (who declared to be happy and fulfilled within there own lives) before arriving at his mathematical equation:

Okay you’re probably thinking…yeah! right.

But let me make you aware of algebra equations that could possibly create happiness in you and you’re children.

Imagine for a moment what that would feel like?

In what way could this formula actually change your life?

See your self having happy and contented children?

(L x C) + W + S+ M + F+ R =

L stands for LOVE: feelings of fondness and feeling safe and secure.

C is CAREFREE Living: Feeling free to walk around in safety.

W = WEATHER: Memories of the snow and sunny days.

S signifies SIMPLICITY: Simple activities mean the most.

M is for MAGIC: Happiness will often contain colours, smells and maybe sounds.

F means FRIENDS: These are crucial to happiness and includes pets.

R = REHEARSAL: Sharing families “remember when” stories.

So, by example Love and living stress free can all lead to a happy and a more fulfilled YOU.

I want you to think about having a Stress Free life…

What that would it mean to you right now?

Learn to Reduce Stress and Avoid Nervous illness; Stress can cause our nerves to become weak and frazzled. Learning some basic stress techniques can help us to reduce our stress levels. We cannot remove the stressors in our lives but we can change how we deal with them.

As you absorb this information it will become clearer, how making little changes can have a BIG impact on you’re life and the lives of you’re loved ones.

You will be surprized to know that some anxious and depressed people can become angry at the suggestion that their bodies are responsible for the way that they feel.

The nervous system can become weak with constant stress and tension, not only in one’s current life but from feelings which have been bottled up and repeatedly suppressed. Emotions like sadness, grief, anger, resentments and even loneliness to mention only a few.

The nervous system is not a separate entity, it is part of YOU. If your body or mind experiences more stress or tension than it can deal with, then it will affect your nerves, it’s as simple as that.

I suppose the first part is accepting that you have allowed your self to suffer too much stress or tension. This can be better than accepting that you are “bad with your nerves” or “nervously ill”.

You can then learn some basic skills and techniques click here these will help you to deal with and reduce you’re stress and tensions that you are experiencing within you’re life. Learning that you too, can recover and find peace and joy in your life is so empowering.

It will not happen over-night, it will take time so be patient, and remember nature does not heal in a straight line.

ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) causes fatigue, symptoms fatigue are muscle pain, and mental fogginess. Extreme tiredness that is not helped by sleep. Difficulties with concentration, short-term memory impairment, sore throats, headaches and insomnia. Some people have such severe symptoms that they are housebound while others only suffer fatigue when they experience stress.

As you absorb this information you will begin to notice you’re understanding also improves.

Many people experience fluctuating symptoms, sometimes feeling well, and at others finding that daily functioning is difficult. Other causes can include viral infections, such as glandular fever, mental stress, depression or a reaction to a traumatic event, such as bereavement or redundancy. The condition appears to be exacerbated by infections, not taking enough exercise, over-exercising and social isolation.

Currently, the cause of ME remains unknown, although several factors have been suggested, including immunological, genetic, viral, neuroendocrine and psychological.

There has been controversial evidence based research in Germany that suggests that this viral infection can come from the bite of a “tick”. A wingless louse-like fly (Melophagus ovinus) that is parasitic to sheep and cattle.

All too often I see people reaching a crisis point emotionaly or they think they can no longer cope with life in general, not to mention having a credit crisis on top of everything else.

So my advice to you all would be to have regular financial assessments. By carrying out some preventative measures some problems can be dealt with before they reach a crisis point.

I have put together some information that if you find your self in a credit crisis you will find useful. You will notice that as you continue to read this article you will begin to absorb the information.

Random life thoughts can be difficult to control. We feel we have no power over our intrusive thoughts. Our thought process is made up of a multitude of positive thoughts and negative thoughts.

Often we choose to see thoughts as simply intangible, they come and they go. We see no danger in this innate behavior. After all, it’s only a thought, it doesn’t really matter.

However, unfortunately, we are putting ourselves in jeopardy.

As a student of psychotherapy, I was taught that every thought has a consequence that each and every thought that we experience has a consequence. And those consequences can and do have an incredible affect, not only on our mind and our feelings, but also on our body. The mind and body arguably are interconnected and both have a positive or negative effect on us depending on how you “choose” to focus your attention.

Believe it or not our thoughts can and do play a big part on our physical well being.

“All illnesses can be considered to be psychosomatic. That is, they inevitably involve the mind’s reaction (psyche) to a physical illness. However, in some illnesses, psychological factors seem to play a particularly important part. They can influence not only the cause of the illness, but can also worsen the symptoms and affect the course of the disorder”.

Source: Surgerydoor.com

So we have all probably heard the phrase “it’s all in your mind”.

So by example our thought patterns are extremely powerful. The mind tells the body it is ill because the mind is struggling to cope. It is the mind’s way of telling the individual that there is a problem and it needs to be addressed.

One of the biggest problems for anyone suffering from a psychosomatic illness is that they feel that their doctor is not taking them seriously and this in itself causes stress and stress as we all should know affects our immune system.

Typical questions your Doctor may ask when you present with a potential psychosomatic disorder;

Are you under a lot of stress?

Is your job particularly stressful?

Are things all right with your home life?

These questions help the Doctor deduce whether you are suffering physically or psychologically.

So by reducing our stress levels we can reduce our illness’s.

To make this easier to understand, let’s compare your body to a pressure cooker. A Pressure cooker operates by building up steam, the steam creates pressure, the cooker vents the steam in a controlled way. If it’s not allowed to vent its steam, the pressure will build up and up until the lid blows off! Hence the phrase; “flip our lids”. So we need to allow our steam to release slowly yet consistently.

Suppressing and re-suppressing your feelings is like the the pressure building up in the cooker, the pressure will find a way out. You can be like the pressure cooker that is venting steam in a controlled way or you can let the stress find your weakest point and explode:

Access a counsellor, psychotherapist or some kind of talking therapy or simply talk to someone you trust; join a support group; learn some relaxation techniques; or take some time out for yourself.

In today’s stressful world, we can regularly experience flagging energy levels.

Improving your diet, can so easily intensify and increase low energy levels and help to reduce the feelings of fatigue. Fatigue can so easily lead to feelings of stress, anxiety and, if we allow it, depression. Did you know that fatigue is our body’s way of telling us to slow down.

1. NEVER skip breakfast! We all need to make sure that we eat well. Proper nutrition, helps us to maintain our optimum energy levels. Grabbing a piece of fruit, a piece of toast or a handful of unsalted nuts can be much better than skipping the most important meal of the day.

2. Allow yourself to feel your emotions. If we switch off from our emotions, we can become stuck. Suppressing and re-suppressing our feelings might work in the short term, but it does have its own emotional price, and will, most definitely deplete your energy levels. Remember that ‘what we resist persists’. You can learn to express your self in a healthier way.

3. Exercise regularly: You don’t need to join a gym. Walking is an excellent way of keeping fit and does not cost anything except time, 20-30 minutes a day and you will notice a great difference in your energy and well being.

4. Learn to pace yourself: When we try to get everything done all at once, we set ourselves overwhelming and unrealistic tasks. Prioritize. Make a list of what is important and work your way through it. The sense of achievement will be fantastic.

5. Develop a positive mental attitude. Talk positively to yourself. Get in the habit of smiling to your self on a regular basis and notice how infectious this really can become.

Allowing your self to get stressed out can cause an immense drop in energy levels. check out some handy tips on stress management.

Psychosexual Dysfunction Treatment:

Experts are claiming that stress can be the main cause in relation to the lack of sexual drive in men. Depression and the inability to talk about their problems are also a high factor to consider.

Relationship counsellors have reported a whopping 40 % increase in the number of men with low libido’s, stating that, despite being physically able to have sex, they don’t have any interest.

What we seem to have, is a lot of men who are saying: “I can have sex, but I don’t want to. It’s not rewarding”.

Such complaints were unheard of ten years ago. They tend to be men in their thirties, forties and fifties and married.

One of the explanations is that men are less able to talk about their problems than women, or express their emotions. Men are most likely to suffer depression between the ages of 30 and 50. Another explanation could be that our work culture has gone from nine to five, to extremely long hours, which makes for a very stressful life.

It is a serious issue and it counts as a psychosexual dysfunction, rather than just a relationship problem, because these men haven’t simply gone off their partner but they have off sex altogether.

Fixing problems

For example, if a man has low testosterone, part of the treatment is to give him a supplement, and that may be more effective if a psychosexual therapist supports the process. The production of testosterone is not entirely physical, …

SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION

Treatment with testosterone is likely to be beneficial if circulating levels are low. • Psychiatric problems such as anxiety, depression and stress. • Psychosocial and psychosexual problems due to marital disharmony or to latent or …
