‘Magical’ ‘on Earth as it is in Heaven’

When the pupil is ready the teacher appears; Throughout life we meet many teachers

Living Magically by Gill Edwards

A few years ago I was introduced to this book by a very good friend of mine – ‘Ian Brown’ (Not The Stone Roses Front man – although a spiritual lyricist if ever there was one) but one of life’s friends who have vision – a different perspective that puts the things that your thinking into some kind of rational order or coherent communication.

The Teachings;

The main ethos was about how to; Create your own heaven on earth – and learn to grow through joy… rather than struggle!

For those that are interested ‘Living Magically’ offered a magical blend of metaphysics, shamanism, psychology and spiritual awareness for everyday life.

Written in a practical, down-to-earth approach with emphasis on living with joy, creating true prosperity, fulfilling your higher purpose, freeing your soul – transforming your life -

Living Magically offers a practical wisdom that derives from the mystic heart of the world’s spiritual traditions. It encourages us to take full responsibility for our lives, to honour the Light within ourselves and others, and to create a heaven on earth.

Remembering the things that time had forgotten.

At 2.20am the morning of Saturday November 19th 2011 – A Teacher within her own right – Gill Edwards died, her family said that she had finished her mission on earth. Her Mum and her brother, Brian were with her, and her much beloved son, Kieran had been with her earlier that evening.

The family agonized about what to say to all the many thousands of people who love her and follow her work, but then Brian opened her laptop and a letter jumped out that Gill wrote to someone grieving a loss. Brian has adapted that letter, so go to the Message from Gill page here, and Gill can tell you how she would like you to think about her passing. You can also leave comments, tributes, or memories of Gill on that page.

Thank you Gill RIP.

Another great teacher;

Communicating our emotions and feelings can for most, be a difficult process and one that I feel is responsible for many arguments, and conflicts.

We are creatures of learnt behaviors. We learn from the environment in which we are brought up in, resulting in many of us having never been taught how to express our emotions.

Instead of expressing our emotions healthily, we end up suppressing and re-suppressing them. Some often engage in unhealthy behaviors to avoid expressing our emotions, such as self-injury, developing eating disorders, getting involved in drugs or alcohol.

Basically developing self destructive lifestyles.

Expressing emotions is the best way to release these pent up feelings.

Here is how to learn to express your emotions:

Recognize the importance of expressing your emotions. Unexpressed emotions affect your life. For example, many people who struggle with ongoing depression or anxiety are often at times actually quite angry. Because the unexpressed anger has nowhere to go, the person experiences the emotion as depression or anxiety. If you want to take control over your emotional life, you need to learn how to express your emotions.

Get to know your emotions. Many people who have never learned how to express their emotions have a difficult time even labelling what those emotions are. Some people might feel anger when the emotion that they are actually dealing with is pain. Others might cry and feel sad in situations in which anger is really the more appropriate emotion. Practice labelling the emotion that you are actually having.

Use a wide range of feeling words of differing feelings.
Purposely select an assortment of feeling words. The greater the vocabulary, the more likely you are to attune to the array of emotions these words represent. If you find yourself using the same few words over and over, select variations to use in the future and then do it.

Do groups work?

I can completely appreciate group dynamics and how effective group work can actually be, on both the individual and the facilitators, an experience of illumination in a very unique and humanistic way.

Back in the day when I was new to group work and facilitating, the pressure that I felt was over-powering to say the least. Of course holding the knowledge that whether the group was a success or failure and that it was not just down to me did give me some confidence, ultimately it was down to the group and their dynamics.

No group is ever the same.

This knowledge helped me in sharing the responsibility but also help to raise my awareness of how difficult it could be to give sufficient time and focus to each and every member thus proving to be a bit of a personal battle.

With this experience and foresight I would like to suggest that no group be more than 11 to 12 members in size and does not carry over more than 6 to 8 weeks.

In my humble opinion (IMHO) this kind of group work offers bite size chunks which I feel is paramount to any therapeutic alliance.

Psychotherapy Perspectives: The Benefit of Groups and What is a …

Group therapy also is based on a screening process by facilitators to assure that members are well suited for this therapeutic process and ready for group work. Sometimes there is a theme that defines the nature of the group and other …

Staying in therapy and staying with therapy can be a difficult proposition for a dissociative group, even when there is no specific programmed response or therapeutic conflict getting in the way. Each person in the group has to work through their own individual issues with trust, connection, feeling dependent, being independent – and beyond that, there are the interpersonal dynamics that happen between members of a dissociative system, just like they would between …

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy does not exist as an individual therapeutic technique. The term “cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)” is a very general term given for a categorization of therapies with similarities.

Other categories consist of;

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy,(REBT) Cognitive Therapy,(CT) Rational Behavior Therapy,(RET) Rational Living Therapy,(RLT) Schema Focused Therapy,(SFT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the important role of our thoughts and thinking patterns and the affect they can have on our behaviors. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on the concept that our thoughts create our feelings and our feelings influence our behaviors, separating this from our reaction or responses to external factors, like people, situations, and events.

The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think and fundamentally change the way we feel, consequently feeling and behaving better even if the situation does not change.

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) is a practical, action-oriented approach to coping with problems and enhancing personal growth. REBT places a good deal of its focus on the present: On present attitudes, painful emotions and maladaptive behaviours that can sabotage a fuller experience of life.

Developed by Albert Ellis, Ph.D. in the mid -1950’s. Apparently Ellis developed this approach in his dislike of the in-efficient and in-directive nature of Psychoanalysis.

What happens on a First Contact therapy Session?

The first contact, sometimes called an assessment session, a consultation or even a contracting session is the opportunity to explore any issues that could affect the therapeutic relationship as well as any personal needs that you have for counseling.

Are my sessions Confidential?

Most of what you discuss is confidential between you and the counsellor or psychotherapist. There can be certain legal exceptions and you and the practitioner should clarify this prior to any business or agreement for working together. This usually means any major concerns about self-harm or suicide, current child abuse or terrorist information, by law many professionals have to disclose this.

Do your research, find counselors in the area in which you wish to be seen, get in touch with them, preferably by phone so you can hear their voice and get a general idea about them. Ask them questions like;

What time the sessions will be?

Where will they take place?

How much do the sessions cost?

How long are the sessions?

Are there any charges for cancelled appointments and holidays?

You may also wish to enquire about the counsellor or psychotherapist’s professional membership, experience and training. During this time you will build up an idea of what is involved and you will be able to make up your mind if this is a person you can work with. It is a general rule important to be clear about what you want and what the practitioner is able to offer, although often people just need to talk things through with a professional and as a result of this can make significant changes.
What do they specialize in?

What are there qualifications?

What is their registration number so that you can verify them?
After you have finished on the phone you may wish to ask yourself some of the questions below:-

1. Did I feel respected?

2. Was I allowed to talk without interruption or contradiction?

3. Were they Genuine, warm and accepting?

4. Is this someone I feel I can trust?

Remember it is your decision as to whom you appoint. You can always change your mind if you find that the therapist you have initially chosen is not suitable, as long as you are honest and declare your un-certainty at your assessment or contracting session or at any time during your sessions.

Having confidence in your therapist is crucial and will enable you to get the best out of your therapy sessions.

Let me know if this was helpful?

Mind and body correlation. Many practitioners believe that the mind controls the body and a healthy mind can help resolve many issues in an unhealthy body.

“Grasping the concept that our mind and body are one of the same. Many suggest that our stomach is our feeling center.

I once read an article that explained the idea of a second brain (or mind) being housed in the stomach. Our aim is to keep both in harmony with each other.

As you continue to read this article you will notice how you begin to understand and absorb this information much better.”

101 exercises: Warding off negative energy

Alternative therapies and complementary medicines have emerged more in Westernized societies with an aim to ease people into bridging a gap between their mental associations and their physical being. Although many of these therapies are …

The severity of the symptoms of thyroid cancer and other adverse effects of the treatment procedures are generally reduced with the use of these alternative therapies. Controlled Amino Acid Therapy (CAAT). Controlled Amino Acid Therapy …

“The fact that you are still reading this post tells me that you are interested in natural alternative therapies and are probably understanding them that little bit better than you did before”.

Tom Harkin, the proud father of the National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine, told a Senate hearing on Thursday that NCCAM had disappointed him by disproving too many alternative therapies. …
