Facebook bully jailed: 22 Aug 2010 the first person in Britain was jailed for 3 months in a young offenders’ institution for bullying on a social network site. The bully was reported to have said she would kill the girl whom she had bullied for 4 years since they were at school together.

The hearing took place at Worcester Magistrates. District Judge Bruce Morgan said; “Bullies are by their nature cowards, in school and society. On this day you did an act of gratuitous nastiness to satisfy your own twisted nature”.
The bully was also given a restraining order banning her from contacting the girl in person for five years.

New Study helps to Stop Bullying, Teasing, Intimidation and Name Calling:

A new study aimed at young children revealed that, it is young girls that are more  prone to taking on the role of the victim of bullying than  that of boys. It is the closeness of their friendships that can make it difficult to escape this victim role.

It was also revealed that children with emotional problems and children from rigid hierarchies seemed more at risk from relational bullying.

These findings depict vital implications for teachers and other professionals that work closely with children.

“These findings call for the development and implementation of intervention programmes that can tackle victimization at the earliest age in primary schools”
