Apparently on our social networks, youths are getting tips and advice on how to self harm. They are also proudly up loading photographs and images of their scars for all to see and comment.

The site ironically called ‘Self Harm’ has more than 540 members and increasing.

The mental health site ‘SANE‘ said; “We are greatly concerned that some of these sites may encourage people to continue to self harm – We need to make sure that people are also exposed to websites that offer treatment and counselling”

A spokes person for facebook said; “We do not permit groups that encourage self harm but we do allow groups that support users on this sensitive issue – we have removed content which actually violates our policy but we haven’t deleted the groups – overall we felt that the groups were more for support . It is better that these groups are open rather than closed”

Self harm is not necessarily attempted suicide but can be a way of coping with difficulties. One major step forward is for people to create a new way of dealing with their life.

Help can be provided by charities such as:

Sane.org – nshn.co.uk

or contact The Samaritans 08457 90 90 90

Did you know that many celebrities self harm – Amy Whinehouse had cuts on her arms last year; Princess Diana admitted to cutting her legs and arms when interviewed in 1995 for a BBC documentary; Actress Angelina Jolie self harmed when she was 13 yrs old and Actor Johnny Depp has scars on his forearm from cutting.

“What are your thoughts on this controversial issue?”

“Come on Lets discuss this…”

‘Every day in Britain millions of searches are carried out on Google for free. Every month we spend millions of hours on Facebook for free and read millions of articles from free newspapers.

But now look at it the other way round.

Every day Google gathers millions of search terms that help them refine their search system and give them a direct marketing bonanza that they keep for months.

Every week Facebook receives millions of highly personal status updates that are kept forever and are forming the basis of direct advertising revenue.

Every month free newspapers plant and track a cookie tracking device on your computer that tells them what your range of interests are and allows them to shape their adverts and in the future, even content around you.

So you’re not just being watched, you’re being traded. The currency has now dramatically changed.’

“Are you happy to trade your privacy for free access to web sites and services?”

“Or are you worried that your personal space is being eroded by companies who are building databases of your online habits and preferences?”

The term “privacy” means many things in different contexts. Different people, cultures, and nations have a wide variety of expectations about how much privacy a person is entitled to or what constitutes an invasion of privacy.

Internet privacy is the ability to control what information one reveals about oneself over the Internet, and to control who can access that information. These concerns include whether email can be stored or read by third parties without consent, or whether third parties can track the web sites someone has visited.

Another concern is whether web sites which are visited collect, store, and possibly share personally, identifiable information about users. Tools used to protect privacy on the Internet include encryption tools and anonymize services like I2P.

“So what does this mean for privacy?”

“How much do you know about the deals you may be making with your data?”

Facebook and myspaces are now liable for lawsuits. As you continue to read this post you will notice how you absorb this information and become clearer in your understanding.

Factitious disorder, munchausen syndrome by proxy and hypochondria are quite similar in symptom disorders. (More on the latter in other posts).

1000,s of employed people fake illness and cost employers enormous amounts of revenue every year. What Makes People Fake An Illness? And What Can We Do About It?

factitious disorder

factitious disorder (fd) is an umbrella category that covers a group of mental disturbances in which patients intentionally act physically or mentally ill without obvious benefits. according to one estimate, the unnecessary tests and …

Mommy Makes Me Sick: A Munchausen by Proxy Q & A

Factitious Disorder (FD) is the feigning, exaggerating, or self-inducing of physical or psychological signs and symptoms to assume the “sick role.” External incentives are absent, which contrasts with malingering, in which the principal …

Let me ask you, how many of you, have pulled a Monday Morning sicky, after having a late night out on the Friday ,Saturday or even the Sunday evening?

To those of you that have, let me also ask, did you upload photographs of the evening onto your facebook or myspaces profile? Did you also write your status referring to your night out.

Well… You may or may not know it yet but you soon will… Employers can now terminate your employment. This is instant proof that you may be faking an illness.

Facebook and MySpace Expert Witnesses : CollegeRecruiter.com Blog

I know that there have to be more people out there than just me who have the ability to serve as an expert witness in wrongful termination or other such employment-related Facebook / MySpace lawsuit. But who? …

Potential employers can now use facebook and myspaces to check your profile and suitability for the job in question. This can be deemed as Discrimination, Invasion of privacy’s. So you may wish to check out the “Terms and Services” of your chosen networking sites.

The fact that you are still reading this article means that this is of interest to you…Just think about it for a moment… Are you beginning to see the bigger picture.

Okay, so you’re probably wondering how this can affect you, well just suppose you make some little changes. Adopt an air of cautiousness and care fullness. What have you, got to loose?

Ask your self this question, “Is Big Brother watching YOU?”

Employers Using Facebook for Background Checking, Part I …

General rule (employment at will). Let’s start with the proposition that, like it or not, generally employers are free to make unfair, stupid, arbitrary, and wrongheaded hiring and termination decisions, even based on false information, …

Let me ask you to share your views. I am interested.
